The DAR Museum's is known for its period rooms (see attraction
overview). These rooms are designed in the fashion of a period and place. Examples include
a 1850 California parlor and a New Hampshire attic filled with toys from the 1800's.
45-minute tours are conducted from 10 AM to 2:30 PM.
Every first and third Sunday of the month, the DAR conducts
"Colonial Adventure" tours for children aged five through seven. Costumed
guides go through the exhibits with the children while answering questions about life in
early America. Try to make reservations at least two weeks in advance, but you could get
lucky if you call later.
Besides the period rooms, the DAR is known for its quilts. Once a month, the museum has
a small session for patrons to handle some quilts and have their antique quilts evaluated.
